Home 101-a fresh spin
The Speakers' Bureau will meet to discuss the development of a nu model-excuse me, that should be "new" model (for those who got that little titillation: congrats) of Gay and Lesbian Awareness Presentation. All interested in working on the Bureau should plan to attend this meeting, which will be held Monday, February 10 at 7:30 p.m. Our in-demand speakers already have on the agenda a statewide psychologists' convention, classes at Baldwin-Wallace and at Cleveland State University, among others, and so are seeking the company of other volunteers. Valentine's Day Potluck
A new look for this tasty dish: the potluck will be scheduled and announced as a special event, one month in advance. The last two were attended by more than 30 p'luckers; this next one will be Saturday, February 15; call for time. Bon apetit! PRYSM-Alive and Well
The success of our youth group PRYSM's December presentation has led to an invitation to make another, at the school psychologists' statewide convention on May 8.
Lambda Leadership Roundtable
Will have a meeting on Saturday, February 8, from 11:00-2:00 at HIT. Sex, Crimes, and Videotaped
The Living Room has suffered a setback; someone has stolen its VCR, which is an important resource. This is a hoinous, yukky, victimizing crime; will some angel please offer us another VCR? We need your help, so that we can continue to help others.
More Positively
Here are the scheduled days and times for the facilitated, ongoing support groups currently being offered at the Living Room: for HIV-challenged individuals, Saturdays, 6:30 p.m.; for those in the HIV spectrum as well as others concerned and
affected (e.g.,friends), Mondays at 10:30 a.m., and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. All groups meet for approximately one and a half hours.
Quite Positively
The Living Room launched its first holiday card campaign in December, and it reports that a substantial amount of money was quickly raised from the sale of these cards, designed and produced entirely by volunteers. Special thanks go to John Koncar and Rick Mordesovich, for their beautiful work.
Looking for that special place to meet? Call Christine at the Center now to set it
up.
Men in Touch
This ever-popular discussion group on the expression of intimacy, physical and otherwise, starts another six-week cycle. The discussions are structured and facili-
tated so as to create a safe space for everyone. All are invited to the initial open forum, set for the first week of March. Call us for exact day and time. Men in Touch East
The Center announces its intention to have sessions in the spring and fall on the East Side; all are welcome, especially African-American men interested in exploring these issues (see above). P.S. We need an East Side space! Please call to give us information about potential MIT space, or if you need more information. Gifts, Grants, and Glamour
A $10,000 grant was received from the Community AIDS Partnership, which will be used as partial funding for Living Room staff.
A beautiful computer was received from an anonymous, nice person.
A carpet, donated by Doug and Tim, happily takes its place on the floor of the Center...
The Ascherman Foundation has donated an aristocratic copier, now being used constantly and gratefully by the Center. A billion thanks to these generous, thoughtful, glamorous helpers; may they inspire others to be so!
Those who have written to Dr. Brooks will be pleased to know that all will be responded to. (Confidential to "Curious”: Dr. Brooks will not reveal his age.)
Center phones: 522-1999, during business hours; evenings, call the Hotline at 781-6736. The Living Room: 522-1998. ▼
